The Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Miguel Pinto Luz, argued that Portugal anticipated European guidelines on housing. According to the minister, the country followed a strategy two years ago that the European Commission is now recommending.
The minister's position comes following measures adopted by the European Union in the housing sector. Portugal had previously implemented initiatives that are now validated by European authorities.
Miguel Pinto Luz highlighted that the Portuguese executive acted proactively, before Brussels established its current recommendations for the housing sector in Member States.
This statement by the minister aims to demonstrate that Portugal was at the forefront of European housing policies, having taken measures that would later be confirmed and recommended by the European Commission.
