Ukraine receives 6.1 billion euros from the EU for Patriot interceptors

The European Union will make 6.1 billion euros available to Ukraine for the acquisition of Patriot interceptors. This financing is part of a broader effort to strengthen the country's air defence capabilities.

Brussels is currently working to convince EU member states that still have Patriot interceptor missiles in their national arsenals to donate them to Ukraine. The goal is for these countries to cede their existing interceptors.

The interceptors donated by European countries would be replaced at a later stage, in a process that aims to minimise the impact on the defence capability of the member states themselves. This replacement model allows donor countries to maintain their security while supporting Ukraine.

The deliveries of Patriot interceptors to Ukraine are scheduled for 2027, thus guaranteeing a future supply of critical air defence systems for the country.
