GNR rescues 13 animals in situation of severe neglect

The Territorial Command of the GNR of Aveiro, through the Territorial Post of Gafanha da Nazaré and the Protection Unit, rescued 13 animals that were in a situation of severe neglect.

The operation took place in the area of Gafanha da Nazaré, in the district of Aveiro, where the authorities identified conditions of abuse and extreme neglect regarding the animals.

The GNR military personnel proceeded with the rescue of the 13 animals, which showed evident signs of neglect and negligence in their living conditions and basic care.

The competent authorities were activated to proceed with the evaluation of the health status of the rescued animals and to guarantee their proper care and relocation.

Three people rescued in Viana after vessel drifts at sea

Three people, two of Spanish nationality and one Swedish, aged between 25 and 40, were rescued on Thursday night after the high-speed vessel they were on drifted about 60 nautical miles west of Viana do Castelo. The occupants were initially picked up by a merchant ship that also towed the vessel, and were then transferred to maritime authorities two nautical miles from the outer breakwater of Viana do Castelo. The forces mobilized included the Lifeboat Station, Maritime Police, Port Captaincy, Judicial Police and GNR. The three citizens "were physically well" and were identified, while the Spanish-flagged vessel was seized as a precautionary measure.
