Small voices "honor" tradition: "Alma Calipolense" brought the magic of Capuchos to life

The "Alma Calipolense" Children's Group presented a show at Largo dos Capuchos, in Vila Viçosa, on Thursday night, September 10, marking the start of the Capuchos Festivities. The children animated the event with different rhythms and choreography, transforming the space into a festive atmosphere before the night walk.

Created in 2025 through the municipal ATL Férias Divertivas program, the project was born with a strong connection to Alentejo singing (cante alentejano). This year, however, the group expanded its repertoire and also embraced the own identity of the Capuchos Festivities, presenting songs adapted to the celebration.

Councilor Mónica Lobo explained that there was an evolution in the group's musical approach, highlighting that "it will also become a landmark for us at the kickoff of Capuchos: our children." The children's performance thus became a central moment in the opening of the festivities.

The children's group performance preceded the Capuchos Night Walk, which brought together around 500 registered participants. With this participation, the youngest members took on a central role from the very first moment of the Capuchos Festivities, showing that the continuity of traditions is also built through new generations.
