The monument to the Marquis of Pombal, a bronze statue resting on a worked stone pedestal, was inaugurated on May 13, 1934. The monument is currently in the process of national classification. The piece represents the well-known Portuguese statesman Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, better known as the Marquis of Pombal, a central figure in the history of Portugal in the 18th century.
