The Police Professional Union Association (ASPP) announced that it will promote protests throughout the country if the Government does not guarantee a salary increase for the Public Security Police (PSP) starting in 2027. The association demands concrete responses regarding police officers' salary conditions.
In addition to ASPP, four associations from the National Republican Guard (GNR) and three PSP unions joined this demand. Police representatives want the Portuguese Executive to ensure consistent salary increases for security forces personnel.
The police representative organizations also demand the granting of a risk supplement equivalent to that granted to Judicial Police (PJ) inspectors. This demand for equal treatment regarding the risk supplement is one of the central points in negotiations with the Government.
The protest arises in a context of general dissatisfaction among security forces with salary and working conditions. Police officers want concrete guarantees that the promised salary increase by the Government will be effectively implemented starting in 2027.
