In the sixth round of the I Liga, FC Porto traveled to the Casa Pia's ground, which occupies the last position in the standings, to maintain the isolated leadership of the championship. The match was part of a wider round that also included the other major title contenders.
Benfica hosted Gil Vicente at home, thus benefiting from the advantage of playing at their own stadium to try to get closer to the leader FC Porto. The Reds sought to capitalize on any negative result from the dragons in this matchup.
Sporting, on the other hand, traveled to Famalicão to face the home team. The lions were also in the title race and intended to earn points to not lose ground in the standings.
With these matches, the three giants of Portuguese football continued to fight for the top positions, at an early stage of the season where the battle for leadership proved to be fierce.
