Real Madrid has record spending cap of nearly R$5 billion; Barcelona raises limit to R$3.5 billion

Real Madrid continues to have the greatest investment power in Spanish football. LaLiga released the new spending limits for clubs on Thursday, and the team led by José Mourinho appears at the top of the ranking, authorized to commit up to €832.7 million (approximately R$4.99 billion) to salaries, signings, and other costs related to the squad.

Barcelona also stood out in the update. After facing severe financial restrictions in recent seasons, the Catalan club raised its cap to €582.7 million (R$3.49 billion). The amount represents an increase of nearly €150 million — approximately R$900 million — compared to the €432.8 million (R$2.59 billion) allowed last year.

The recovery of Barcelona's finances is attributed mainly to the reduction of structural expenses outside of football and the increase in revenues from Camp Nou. The commercialization of VIP boxes and the opening of a new sector for fans helped the club increase its revenue.
