Kazakh tennis player Elena Rybakina, currently ranked world number two but set to become the virtual leader of the rankings from next week, reached the US Open final for the first time, the last Grand Slam tournament of the season.
Rybakina defeated American Coco Gauff in three sets, securing her place in the tournament final held in New York.
The victory represents a milestone in Rybakina's career, as she could take over the world number one ranking after the tournament concludes, depending on the results of other players.
