Paramos: Rua da Praia will undergo raising to reduce flood risk

Defesa de Espinho11 September 2026 at 09:59

Rua da Praia, in Paramos, will undergo a raising of its level to reduce the flood risk in that area, ensuring access to Paramos Beach. The decision was made by the City Council together with Infraestruturas de Portugal.

This intervention comes as a result of the Norte Line modernization work and will take place before the closure of the Silvalde level crossing. The raising will allow maintaining an open circulation channel to the beaches of Paramos, Engineering Regiment No. 3, and the populations of Silvalde.

According to the municipality, the elevation of the road level will ensure pedestrian and road transit conditions, guaranteeing access to the Paramos halt level crossing even in situations of greater stormwater accumulation. The measure aims to solve a problem that usually restricts circulation during periods of intense rain.

The City Council states that it will monitor the progress of the work together with IP and the Parish Councils, but did not reveal the start date of the project.

Porto considers it "fair" that the State financially helps future works in health centers

The Porto City Council considers it "fair" that the State co-finances future rehabilitation works in the municipality's health centers. The council had already identified, in 2024, several health centers whose rehabilitation could apply to the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), but ended up dropping some applications due to the too short deadlines imposed by the program. The mayor, Rui Moreira, defended the need for state support for these interventions, highlighting that the municipality cannot bear alone all the costs of requalifying health infrastructures.
