The Regional Environmental Inspection Authority of the Regional Directorate for Environment and Sea (DRAM) prevented the improper dismantling of a dry cleaning machine classified as hazardous Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). The intervention resulted from an anonymous complaint received by the authorities.
The equipment in question still contained perchloroethylene (PERC), a dangerous substance, as well as fluorinated greenhouse gas. The presence of these substances made the appliance particularly dangerous for the environment and for public health.
Given the identification of these dangerous substances, DRAM technicians oversaw the entire regularization process, ensuring the safe temporary storage of the equipment until its correct disposal.
