A traffic accident occurred this morning on VR1, in the direction Ribeira Brava-Machico, inside the Ribeira Brava tunnel, still at kilometre zero. The incident reportedly happened at around 10 a.m.

As a result of the accident, one traffic lane is closed, causing significant congestion on the road.
The traffic jam is extensive, with a queue of vehicles stretching back to the Ribeira Brava junction, affecting traffic on this section of VR1.
