Being introverted or extroverted can influence how you should use AI

oglobo11 September 2026 at 08:30

The Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung made introversion and extraversion central elements of his theory of psychological types over a century ago. Today, these terms are used as a shorthand way of describing how sociable someone is, although Jung's original distinction was much broader than simply liking parties or being surrounded by other people.

In his work "Psychological Types," published in 1921, Jung described introversion and extraversion as distinct orientations that go beyond superficial sociability. The spelling he preferred was "extraverted" (extravert), not the form that is currently more common.

This original distinction proposed by Jung raises a question in the age of generative artificial intelligence. The question is: if people differ in how they naturally orient themselves toward their inner and outer worlds, should they also use AI in different ways?

Currently, about two gigawatts are dedicated to artificial intelligence, but this area is expected to represent about one third of the projected total capacity. The plan includes owned and leased data centers, excluding capacity from cloud providers. The company had temporarily paused the development of some data centers in 2025 due to concerns about oversizing, which led clients such as Temu to opt for alternatives such as Oracle.
