Physint: PlayStation Abandons the Project and Xbox Seizes the Opportunity to Secure Kojima's New Game

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General11 September 2026 at 08:45

Physint was a new spy game project announced in January 2024, presented as a new chapter in the close relationship between PlayStation and Kojima Productions. The game was being developed by the Japanese studio led by Hideo Kojima.

After more than two years since its announcement, Sony Interactive Entertainment unilaterally withdrew from the project, abandoning its agreement with Kojima Productions for the publishing of the game.

The situation was taken advantage of by Microsoft, whose Xbox Game Studios teams closed a new agreement with the Japanese studio to secure publishing of the game, thus transferring the project from the PlayStation ecosystem to Xbox.

This move represents a significant shift in the gaming industry, with Microsoft managing to secure a project that was initially destined for PlayStation, demonstrating the competition between the major companies in the sector for exclusive content.

In contrast, Portugal launched the same system in April and is achieving impressive results, with a significant increase in recycling and reuse rates, drastically reducing the number of bottles that end up in the environment.
