Rede Globo confirmed the production of "Avenida Brasil 2," a sequel to the 2012 ratings phenomenon, which will air in January 2027 replacing "Quem ama cuida." The plot will keep the iconic villain Carminha, played by Adriana Esteves.
In the sequel, Carminha will have a new, younger lover after Max's death, a character played by Marcello Novaes in the original telenovela. Three male leads from the new generation are competing for the role of the villain's young romantic interest.
One of the candidates is Gabriel Fuentes, a 31-year-old actor from Minas Gerais who is currently appearing in the six o'clock telenovela "A nobreza do amor." He gained fame when he debuted on TV in 2018 as Tito in "Malhação: Vidas Brasileiras."
Last year, Gabriel Fuentes starred in the film "Meu melhor amigo," starring opposite Vinicius Teixeira, who played the criminal Vandílson in "Três Graças." The actor went through a big scare at the end of 2025.
