On September 11, Mohamed Atta, one of the hijackers involved in the terrorist attacks, made an error during the hijacking of Flight 11. While attempting to communicate with the aircraft's passengers and crew, Atta accidentally pressed the wrong button.
This error had significant consequences: it ended up alerting air traffic control to the ongoing attacks. The unintentional transmission allowed authorities to realize something was wrong with the flight.
Minutes after the first error, Atta repeated the same kind of mistake. He made another accidental transmission to the ground, again without any intention of communicating with air traffic control.
