The Spanish Government will make available a fund of up to 201.7 million euros in direct subsidies for real estate promoters and investment funds. The aim is to mobilize private capital to build affordable housing on public land belonging to the Casa 47 entity.
The money will be awarded to the promoters and investment funds that win the future competitions launched by Casa 47. The beneficiaries are responsible for building, maintaining and operating housing developments for affordable rental.
The text, which is still pending approval by the Council of Ministers, indicates that these funds are intended for the construction of approximately 2,425 homes, making projects viable that would otherwise not be profitable for the private sector.
With this measure, the Executive intends to use public land to increase the supply of affordable housing, relying on the private sector to meet the investment need that the State cannot cover alone.
