This is restless leg syndrome, the disease that doesn't let you rest and affects millions of Spaniards without knowing it

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General11 September 2026 at 03:50

The article addresses restless leg syndrome, a disease that affects millions of Spaniards without them knowing it, causing difficulties in resting and nighttime sleep. The condition is characterized by an uncontrollable need to move the legs, especially at dusk and during the night, accompanied by tingling, prickling, and sensations difficult to describe.

The article presents the case of Purificación Titos, a retired teacher who lived for more than 20 years without understanding what was happening to her. The first symptoms appeared during pregnancy and, from that moment on, she began a long journey through various medical consultations, where she received treatments for insomnia that even worsened her symptoms.

In addition, she was also treated for supposedly circulation problems, without being correctly diagnosed with the disease. This experience illustrates how restless leg syndrome can go unnoticed for years, significantly affecting the quality of life of those who suffer from this condition.
