The article reports on a visit to ITER, located in southern France, made at the invitation of the President of the Order of Engineers and its French counterpart. The promise of nuclear fusion gained scale, steel, technology, and an impressive human dimension during this visit. ITER, standing for International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor, is the major international nuclear fusion project that is being built on French soil.
