Elon Musk's lawyers formally notified the producers of a new four-hour documentary about the billionaire's life, stating that the film defames him. The legal threat was made shortly before the film's premiere on Tuesday.
Lawyer Alex Spiro sent a letter to a producer at Jigsaw Productions in which he accuses Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Alex Gibney of building the film "Musk" around a predetermined conclusion. In the letter, dated September 3, Spiro also states that Gibney refused to verify the facts presented in the documentary with Musk or people close to him.
In the letter, Spiro wrote: "This project did not begin as an investigation. It began with a conclusion." The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival, where it received a lengthy standing ovation.
