Former deputy TH Joias and four others become defendants for corruption and arms trafficking in Rio

The Regional Federal Court of the 2nd Region (TRF2) unanimously accepted the indictment from the Federal Public Ministry against former state deputy Thiego Raimundo de Oliveira Santos, known as TH Joias, and four other people accused of belonging to a criminal organization linked to the Red Command. The defendants are suspected of crimes including corruption, drug and arms trafficking, and smuggling. In addition to TH Joias, Gabriel Dias de Oliveira (Índio), Luiz Eduardo Cunha Gonçalves (Dudu), former state secretary Alessandro Pitombeira Carracena, and Federal Police delegate Gustavo Stteel also became defendants. The group is the target of Operation Zargun, which investigated a scheme of corruption and illegal trade of arms and drugs. According to the MPF, the organization maintained members in public positions working within the Rio State Legislative Assembly (Alerj) and state secretariats to obtain police information and facilitate illegal business.
