The Competition Authority (AdC) approved the acquisition by Grupo Sousa Investimentos SGPS of joint control of Alcotrans – Agentes Transitários and FJRL – Logística de Transportes. The decision of no opposition was made considering that the operation is not likely to create significant obstacles to effective competition in the national market or a substantial part of it.
Grupo Sousa Investimentos is a holding company of the maritime-port, logistics and energy group based in Madeira. The company owns shipping lines, port operating and trucking companies, shipping agents, freight forwarders, logistics companies and warehouses, and is also present in the sectors of natural gas logistics, energy production and tourism.
Alcotrans is a freight forwarding company that provides goods transport services by sea, land and air within the European space. FJRL – Logística de Transportes also provides freight forwarding services, in collaboration with Alcotrans.
The AdC made the decision of no opposition in coordination with AMT – the Authority for Mobility and Transport, the sectoral regulatory authority.
