ULS Tâmega e Sousa is implementing a new strategy to reinforce patient safety in primary healthcare in the region. The initiative aims at the identification and prevention of risks in the health centers of the local health unit's coverage area.
The first meeting between the Risk Management Group and the professionals responsible for this area in Primary Healthcare took place yesterday, with the presence of Sónia Moreira, Clinical Director of Primary Healthcare at ULS Tâmega e Sousa. The meeting served to bring the teams closer together and define forms of action in situations that may represent risks for users.
The priorities of this area include the early identification of risks, the prevention of incidents and the analysis of situations that have occurred. ULS intends to understand what can be improved and adjust procedures whenever necessary, creating a safety culture common to the different primary healthcare services.
The ultimate goal is to ensure safer and more effective care, with procedures increasingly centered on users' needs. The meeting marked the beginning of joint work that should continue with new follow-up and improvement actions.
