A 69-year-old man died this Wednesday in Jugueiros, Felgueiras, after being stung by an Asian hornet while helping relatives with the grape harvest work. The victim resided in Vila Verde, another parish in the same municipality.
The alert was received by the Felgueiras Fire Brigade at 2:39 PM through 112, with initial indication of a fall on Rua do Amieiral. During the journey to the incident, operatives received new information that the man had been a victim of an Asian hornet sting.
Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found the victim in cardiorespiratory arrest and immediately began resuscitation maneuvers, which continued with the support of the VMER. Despite the efforts, it was not possible to save the man, whose death was declared at the scene.
The body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Office in Guimarães, while the GNR was responsible for investigating the circumstances of the death.
