Estremoz hosts conference on supported decision-making regime and artificial intelligence

The Bernardim Ribeiro Theater, in Estremoz, hosts this Friday, September 11, a conference dedicated to the legal regime of supported decision-making and the application of artificial intelligence in Justice. The event, titled "Who Decides When You Can No Longer Decide?", begins at 2:30 PM.

The initiative is promoted by the General Council of the Bar Association, which organizes this meeting to debate issues related to legal capacity and support mechanisms for decision-making by adults.

The supported decision-making regime replaced the former guardianship and disqualification regime, representing a paradigm shift in Portuguese law by recognizing greater autonomy for people with disabilities or impairments. The conference aims to analyze the impact of this legislative change in legal practice.

Additionally, the event also addresses the growing use of artificial intelligence in the Justice sector, a theme that has gained relevance among legal professionals and the institutions that regulate the practice of law.
