José Sócrates, former Portuguese prime minister, announced that he cannot find a lawyer to represent him in a court case. The former politician made this statement following the resignation of Pedro Delille, who had been appointed as his defender.

Sócrates accused the president of the Bar Association of being a "political activist," suggesting that the conduct of the proceedings has political motivations rather than purely legal ones.

The former prime minister also criticized the court for not respecting his right to defense, arguing that the deadline of only 10 days given to lawyers to review the case is insufficient and makes adequate defense unviable.

Pedro Delille's resignation left Sócrates without known legal representation, raising questions about the progress of the court case involving the former head of government.
