Presidential candidate Ronaldo Caiado (PSD) was hospitalized on Thursday with acute pharyngitis. The politician is receiving medical care at Hospital Vila Nova Star, in São Paulo's capital. According to a statement released by cardiologist Ludihmila Abrahão Hajjar, who is overseeing his medical care, the goal of the hospitalization is to "speed up recovery to resume campaign schedule commitments as soon as possible."
On his social media, Caiado's most recent campaign activities showed a visit to a radio station, also in São Paulo. The hospitalization occurs in the final stretch of the electoral campaign.
The most recent Quaest presidential poll, commissioned by newspaper O GLOBO and Globo, showed Caiado with 3% voting intention in the first round, tied with Renan Santos (Missão). In the lead was Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) with 36% of voting intentions. Flavío Bolsonaro (PL) came next with 29%, while Augusto Cury (Avante) holds the third position with 8%. Quaest enters the field again on Thursday for a new survey.
