New Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor of the Diocesan Curia Take Office

The new Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor of the Diocesan Curia of Funchal took office on Thursday morning, September 10. Canon João Francisco Dias assumed the position of Chancellor, while Fr. Hugo Filipe Almada Gomes began serving as Vice-Chancellor. The ceremony was presided over by the Bishop of Funchal, Mgr. Nuno Brás.

During the event, Mgr. Nuno Brás offered words of recognition to Canon João Duarte R. Pita de Andrade, who is in Lisbon for health reasons, thanking him for the years he served at the Curia.

The prelate also thanked Canon João Francisco Dias for the work he has already been carrying out at the Curia for several years, and Fr. Hugo Gomes for his willingness to take on the new responsibilities. Mgr. Nuno Brás particularly highlighted the "generosity" of the latter, who commutes daily from another part of the island to carry out his duties on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

To conclude, the Bishop of Funchal wished the new officials good luck in the exercise of their duties, expressing confidence in their collaboration and affirming that the entire Diocese relies on their dedication.
