Jazz ao Centro Festival in Coimbra Bets on Approaching Schools

Diário de Viseu10 September 2026 at 19:30

The Jazz ao Centro festival is expanding its action to the central region of the country, covering the municipalities of Miranda do Corvo, Pampilhosa da Serra and Lousã, all in the district of Coimbra, and also the municipality of Mortágua, in the district of Viseu.

One of the festival's main bets is approaching schools, seeking to involve the school community in cultural activities and musical programming.

The event positions itself as a festival that projects itself to the region, bringing jazz to territories that usually have less access to cultural events of this nature.

With this territorial strategy, Jazz ao Centro aims to democratize access to jazz music and create new audiences in the covered municipalities.

Books: The Places of the Mind by Gerald Murnane

Gerald Murnane announced that "Border Territories" (2017) would be his last novel, but in this work the 'self' of the text becomes confused with the empirical author, the plot is scarce or non-existent, and the psychology of the characters becomes almost useless, characteristics that mark the unmistakable style of the Australian writer.
