The Industrial Slaughterhouse of Cachão entered insolvency proceedings in April this year, putting the future of this infrastructure at risk. The process was requested by one of the creditors, the company Ares Lusitani.
The insolvency situation arose after the accumulation of a debt that reached nearly one million euros. This amount represented too heavy a burden for the viability of the unit.
Given this scenario, the union associated with the sector is advocating that the Government intervene financially to ensure the continuity of the slaughterhouse. The intention is to avoid the definitive closure of the infrastructure and protect existing jobs.
