Portugal's environment minister stated that the country needs to achieve independence in both energy and water. The declaration comes in the context of debates on energy security and water resource management.
Regarding electricity and renewable energy, the minister noted that Portugal has already achieved a high level of independence. The country has invested significantly in renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar energy.
However, the minister warned that there is still work to be done. According to the minister, Portugal now needs to advance in the liquid fuels sector for transport, in order to reduce external dependence in this area as well.
