Juan José Monzonís Martínez passed away, leaving an important legacy in the Spanish port sector. During most of his professional career, he devoted himself to the Puerto de Castellón and the ports of the province, first as head of the Port Group and later as engineer and president of the Autoridad Portuaria de Castellón. He was always remembered for being on site or with plans in his hands.
He graduated as a Highway, Canal and Port Engineer in the mid-1960s from the Escuela de Caminos in Madrid, where only a handful of students obtained the degree. He studied at the Antonio de Nebrija College and had an excellent academic record.
In the Spain of the development years of the sixties, these professionals were highly sought after by administrations and companies, which competed to hire them. Monzonís Martínez was native to Betxí and played during his childhood on Alloza street and in Huerto Sogueros square.
