A clandestine scrap yard in the Carobinha region, in Campo Grande, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, was targeted by an operation of the Theft and Robbery Division (DRF) on Wednesday (9). The person responsible for the establishment was arrested on-site for qualified receiving and qualified theft. The operation began from intelligence work and monitoring carried out by the DRF, which identified that the establishment operated without a license.
In the location, the civil police officers seized almost two tons of materials without provenance, including more than 400 traffic signs, traffic lights, train rails, fire hydrants, copper wires and manhole covers. The agents found that part of the equipment was in perfect condition, which suggests that the items had not been stolen recently.
