The Associação Sindical dos Profissionais da Polícia (ASPP) announced this Thursday a series of nationwide protests, including a petition and demonstrations, if there is no legally binding commitment to salary valorization starting from early 2027. The association's president, Paulo Santos, revealed at a press conference at the ASPP headquarters in Lisbon, a picture of constraints, difficulties and demotivation, insisting that part of the 2024 agreement remains unfulfilled, particularly regarding salary tables.
Starting this Thursday, a petition became available on social media and on the ASPP's official website, which can be signed by anyone. Between September 14 and 30, the union will carry out actions throughout the country to raise awareness about PSP's problems among local authorities, business owners and the general public.
Between September 22 and October 30, demonstrations will take place, with one already scheduled in Porto for September 24, in Leiria on October 1, in Lisbon on October 8 and in Faro on October 14. The possibility of protests in other cities remains open, including Coimbra, Guimarães and the autonomous regions.
Paulo Santos also stated that the ASPP will invite the representative associations of the GNR to a large national demonstration in October, in an attempt to unite the security forces in demanding better conditions.
