FCNAUP celebrates International Microorganism Day

The Faculty of Food Sciences and Nutrition of the University of Porto (FCNAUP) will celebrate International Microorganism Day for the first time on September 17th. The event has free entry and aims to bring microbiology closer to students and society in general.

The celebration will address three main themes: the challenges of food safety, antimicrobial resistance, and the importance of microbiology literacy. These topics represent areas of great relevance to public health and to the education of the institution's students.

The event organizers highlight that one of the main objectives is to promote greater proximity between microbiology and the general public, including FCNAUP students. This initiative comes in the context of the first edition of this celebration at the faculty, seeking to raise awareness among the academic community and society about the importance of microorganisms.

Men's health calls for joint attention to symptoms

A survey by the Brazilian Society of Urology (SBU) revealed that 46% of men over 40 only seek medical care when they already have symptoms.
