Portuguese João Almeida, who rides for UAE Emirates, finished the stage in third place.
Spanish Enric Mas, from the Movistar team, managed to maintain the lead of the general classification of the race.
The stage in question was an individual time trial, a discipline in which riders start individually and try to complete the course in the shortest time possible.
