Estrela da Amadora defeated Sporting de Braga 2-1 in Alverca today, handing the minhotos their first defeat in the current edition of the Portuguese football First Division. The postponed match from the third round was played as a borrowed home venue for the tricolores, who besides playing outside their usual stadium, also had their coach suspended.
The winning goals were scored by Romanian Ianis Stoica, at the 45th and 56th minute, allowing the Amadora side to complete the comeback. Sporting de Braga had started the match with an advantage through a goal by Gabri Martínez, but could not maintain the lead until halftime.
With this result, Estrela da Amadora adds nine points and rises to ninth place in the standings, remaining unbeaten in the competition. Sporting de Braga, for their part, remains in eighth place with seven points, two fewer than their opponent, although they have one game in hand.
This defeat represents a setback for the Bracarenses, who until now had accumulated positive results in the Portuguese league, showing that the team coached by梢 could not respond to the negative effects of playing away from home and without their coach on the bench.
