Portugal's women's national volleyball team reached the round of 16 of the 2026 European Championship for the first time in their history. The competition took place in the Czech Republic, Sweden, Turkey and Azerbaijan. In the group stage, Portugal secured two consecutive victories, first against Spain by 3-1 and then against Romania by 3-2. The team was eventually eliminated by Poland, 3-0, in the round of 16 held in Turkey.
Filipe Vitó, assistant coach of the Portuguese national team, took part in this campaign, which was prepared over more than two months. The work began on May 18, with participation in the European League. Although the results in that competition fell short of expectations, the tournament contributed to the group's growth and to the team's preparation for the European Championship.
