The Italian government has extended the 17.1 cent per liter tax discount on diesel for another week, until September 17. This decision comes as the 15th measure taken by the Italian executive to stop the rise in fuel prices.
The total cost of these measures for the Italian state amounts to around 2.7 billion euros. The now-extended discount is described as the last general cut in fuel taxes.
The extension for only one week indicates a gradual reduction of the support measures, at a time when fuel prices continue to represent a concern for consumers and the government.
