INEM received 5,320 emergency calls on last Monday. "If there's a strike, the population will feel the impact," says union

INEM received 5,320 emergency calls on last Monday, a number that highlights the high demand for emergency medical services in Portugal. The situation arises at a time of labor tension, with INEM technicians threatening strikes on September 14 and 28.

The Minister of Health and the INEM Technicians' Union scheduled a meeting for this Friday, the 11th, at 8:30 AM, with the aim of reaching an agreement to avoid the planned strikes. The president of INEM told DN that "he maintains full availability to continue negotiations," demonstrating openness to dialogue.

Rui Lázaro, union representative, recalled that the technicians accepted 90% minimum services during the strike, emphasizing that the stoppage aims to "ensure that the emergency response is not reduced." This position indicates that workers intend to apply pressure without completely compromising assistance to the population.

The union warned that, if the strikes take place, the population will feel the impact on emergency medical services, reinforcing the urgency of an understanding between the parties before the dates set for the strike.
