The president of the Autonomous Community of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, considered that the central Government must "wake up" in the face of the Ceuta crisis, warning that this situation could become "the second great lie of democracy," comparing it to the controversy surrounding the March 11, 2004 attacks in Madrid. García-Page made these statements in an interview with Onda Cero, collected by Europa Press.
The Castilian-Manchego president stated that the Ceuta crisis represents "one of the great management disasters" and asked the Executive to act urgently to prevent the situation from worsening and becoming a scandal of similar proportions to those that stain Spanish democratic history.
In his speech, García-Page referred directly to the March 11 attacks, in which a large part of the Spanish population was convinced about the authorship and the relationship with the Iraq war, something he considered to be "a textbook example" of how a crisis can turn into a great lie that affects citizens' trust in institutions.
