The Municipal Firefighter Card will be implemented in the Municipality of Borba, as announced by Paulo Alves, president of the Federation of Firefighters of the District of Évora, in statements to Rádio Campanário. The card is the result of joint work between the Federation of Firefighters of the District of Évora, the leadership of Borba Firefighters, and the executive of the Municipal Council of Borba, with the availability of all political forces in the municipality.
The Federation's goal is to extend this measure to all corporations in the district of Évora. Currently, approximately 70% of corporations are already covered by the card, which provides a set of social benefits for firefighters, including reductions in water prices and benefits in terms of IMI, particularly in situations of housing or land acquisition for construction.
The card is seen as a form of municipal recognition for the work carried out daily by firefighters, referred to by the president of the Federation as "peace soldiers." Paulo Alves highlights that the attitude of the municipalities translates into recognition for the work of the corporations for the benefit of the populations.
The Federation of Firefighters of the District of Évora now intends to conclude the process in the remaining municipalities of the district, a total of 14, to ensure that firefighters have access to similar benefits regardless of the municipality where they carry out their mission.
