The Federal Police suspects that Federal Congressman Mário Frias and businesswoman Karina Ferreira da Gama, producer of the film "Dark Horse" about former President Jair Bolsonaro, committed crimes of misappropriation of federal public funds, money laundering, criminal organization and document falsification. The investigation targets an alleged misappropriation of parliamentary budget amendments destined for film production. Both have not commented up to the time of publication, but have denied irregularities throughout the investigations.
Minister Flávio Dino, of the Supreme Federal Court, authorized the execution of 49 search and seizure warrants to investigate the case. The decision listed the crime hypotheses being investigated. According to the PF, as soon as the investigation was initiated by Dino in late June, there were already indications of embezzlement, fraud in bidding or contracts, illegal direct contracting, falsification of private documents, ideological falsification and use of false documents, in addition to irregular use of public funds.
