HORPOZIM, the association representing horticultural producers in Póvoa de Varzim, promoted on Sunday, September 6th, a tasting of the traditional Sopa da Póvoa at AGROS Space, in Argivai, as part of the AgroSemana 2026 program. The initiative attracted hundreds of visitors and served to showcase the horticultural products grown in the region.
Made with fresh local legumes, Sopa da Póvoa was presented as an example of the quality of Póvoa de Varzim's agricultural production and the importance of locally sourced food. In less than an hour, approximately 600 portions of soup were distributed, in an action that sought to demonstrate the connection between agricultural production and the end consumer, highlighting the journey of food from field to table.
The tasting also highlighted the nutritional benefits of consuming soup, recognized for its contribution to a balanced diet. Rich in vitamins, minerals, and fiber, soup is one of the foundations of the Mediterranean diet and a simple way to increase daily intake of vegetables.
For HORPOZIM, this action represented an opportunity to promote the work of local producers and raised consumer awareness about the importance of choosing fresh, regionally sourced products. The strong public response confirmed the success of the initiative and concluded in the best possible way the association's participation in another edition of AgroSemana.
