Union, Ministry of Health and INEM meet on Friday to try to avoid strike

SAPO Notícias10 September 2026 at 15:23

The Union of Pre-Hospital Emergency Technicians (STEPH), the Ministry of Health and INEM will meet on Friday to try to reach an agreement that allows the strike scheduled for the 14th and 28th of the current month to be called off.

The meeting comes within the scope of a negotiation process between the three entities, with the objective of resolving the labor conflict that led to the calling of the two days of strike by STEPH.

The union represents pre-hospital emergency technicians, professionals who perform essential functions in the medical emergency system in Portugal. INEM is the body responsible for coordinating and managing medical emergency services in the country.

If an understanding is not reached at the Friday meeting, the strike on the 14th and 28th may proceed, potentially affecting the functioning of pre-hospital emergency services throughout the national territory.

Parents from Areosa say they are "abandoned" with the closure of the parish center's ATL

Parents of students at Escola Básica de Meio, in Areosa, in the district of Viana do Castelo, protest against the permanent closure of the Leisure Time Activities Center (CATL) of the Parochial Social Center of Areosa, which closed on August 14. The direction of the social center refused the help made available by the Municipal Council to resolve the problems identified as obstacles to the continuity of the service. Parents warn that, without this social response, families will have to resort to private study centers with "unaffordable" costs and guarantee they feel "abandoned" with the approaching new school year.
