Polytechnic University of Viseu presents the "TerravisionIA" project at Poliempreende

The Polytechnic University of Viseu presented the "TerravisionIA" project at the Poliempreende event. The project was developed by students from the School of Technology and Management of Lamego, Dinis Chaves and Guilherme Taveira.

The created platform consists of an intelligent system dedicated to land management and protection. Poliempreende is an event that serves as a showcase for entrepreneurial projects developed within polytechnic higher education institutions.

The Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition opened public consultation on a draft decree establishing sustainability requirements for data centers, including the requirement that 80% of consumption be covered by renewable sources (additionally) and that consumed energy be backed by renewables generated in the same hour (hourly matching). This approach, also adopted by Ireland, contrasts with the American Bring Your Own Generation model, which is technology-neutral. Portugal already has legislation on energy transparency for data centers (Decree-Law 84/2024) and renewable self-consumption schemes, but does not enshrine BYOE policies. Europe faces the challenge of balancing decarbonization and energy security with attracting investment in digital infrastructure.
