Former governor Anthony Garotinho, candidate of Republicanos for governor of Rio de Janeiro, participated on this Thursday (10) in a debate promoted by CBN and newspapers O Globo, Extra and Valor. During the event, the candidate addressed his high rejection in electoral polls and stated he suffers persecution.
Garotinho made a distinction between administrative errors and theft of public money. He defined himself as honest and criticized other politicians, classifying former governors Sérgio Cabral and Pezão as thieves, and Mayor Eduardo Paes as "a professional crook," being the smartest among them.
The candidate challenged journalists, the Federal Police and the Federal Revenue to find any irregularity in his assets. According to him, he does not have accounts abroad, a yacht, a mansion in Mangaratiba or gold bars stored abroad.
Garotinho argued he is the only person capable of governing Rio de Janeiro and changing the current situation of the state. The debate was part of a series of interviews with candidates for the government of Rio de Janeiro state.
