The European Parliament decided to maintain the measure in force that allows canceling licenses from the European Union's carbon market. This decision was made during a vote in parliament.
However, MEPs admit altering the current limit of licenses that can be withdrawn from the market. The proposal is to increase this limit from 400 to 650 million licenses.
The issue arises in the context of the EU carbon market, which is a mechanism designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, allowing companies to trade emission licenses.
