The General Secretary of PSPV-PSOE in Castelló and mayoral candidate, Rafa Simó, proposes a moratorium to halt the conversion of ground-floor commercial spaces into housing. The aim is to stop the proliferation of substandard housing while simultaneously preventing the disappearance of local commerce in the city.
The proposal emerges as a measure to address the growing problem of housing in inadequate conditions, which has been increasing in various areas of Castelló. At the same time, the transformation of commercial spaces into residential ones has caused a negative impact on local commerce, which is losing establishments and economic activity.
Rafa Simó presents this initiative as part of his candidacy for the presidency of the Castelló City Council, positioning it as part of a broader strategy to improve the quality of life in the city and protect traditional commercial fabric.
The moratorium would represent a temporary pause in the granting of permits for this type of conversion, allowing municipal authorities to assess the situation and implement more regulated measures for the urban development of the city.
