There are five months to go until the 2027 Carnival parades, but Rio de Janeiro is already in a festive mood with the holding of the samba-enredo finals. This weekend, Beija-Flor, Vila Isabel, Salgueiro, and Unidos da Tijuca will choose the sambas they will defend next year, after Portela, Mangueira, and Mocidade have already defined their works.
In parallel, the Independent League of Samba Schools of Rio de Janeiro (Liesa) released the schedule for technical rehearsals for the season. The rehearsals remain free and will include the light and sound tests at Marquês de Sapucaí, just as happened in the previous season. The program also features official parades by some of the children's samba schools.
Liesa also announced the ways to purchase tickets for frisas and special grandstands, with sales beginning this Thursday. Those interested will be able to buy tickets for the special sectors that offer a privileged view of the parades.
Among the highlights of this year's selection process is the participation of a priest in the music of Unidos da Tijuca. The pastor of the Santo Antônio church in Caridade, in Ceará, is in the finalist partnership of the school, demonstrating the diversity of influences that make up the universe of samba-enredo.
